Is there a published assisted living cost for Richmond or Henrico specifically?

No. CareScout's Virginia release reports statewide figures only, and no other primary source publishes a Richmond, Henrico, Chesterfield or Tri-Cities median, so this site does not print one -- any city-level number you see elsewhere is an estimate.

What families can do is collect two or three written rate sheets for the same care level and compare them line by line: base rent, care-level fees, medication management, incontinence supplies, transportation and the one-time community fee.

What do nursing homes and home care cost in Virginia?

CareScout's 2025 Virginia medians are $123,005 a year (about $10,250 a month) for a semi-private nursing home room, $140,160 (about $11,680 a month) for a private room, and $80,080 a year (about $6,673 a month) for 44 hours a week of non-medical home care.

The home care figure works out to about $35 an hour (the $80,080 annual figure divided by 44 hours x 52 weeks). Nursing home prices rose 18 to 19 percent in a year in Virginia, the sharpest increase in the release. Adult day health care, at $20,995 a year for five days a week, is the least expensive paid option.

Why did Virginia nursing home costs rise so sharply in the 2025 survey?

CareScout's release reports the increases -- 18 percent for semi-private and 19 percent for private nursing home rooms in Virginia -- but does not attribute them to specific causes, so we do not speculate; what matters for families is that 2024 price quotes are out of date.

Ask every facility for current written rates and for the date of its last increase.

What costs are usually extra in Richmond assisted living?

Common extras beyond base rent are care-level fees tied to the assessment, medication management, incontinence supplies, escorts to appointments, special diets and a one-time community fee at move-in.
